mba.com Registrants Survey

Each year more than 300,000 potential business students register on mba.com. This monthly survey of those registrants is designed to:

  • Gather information on why students pursue graduate management education
  • Understand their school selection process
  • Assess the effectiveness of various school promotional materials

Findings are meant to help schools answer critical questions, including—

  • Whom can my program recruit?
  • When and how do prospective students make decisions?
  • Which programs compete for their attention?

Major Findings in 2008

  • School websites are influential—73% considered the school’s website to be extremely or very influential in their decision making.
  • Full-time, 2-year MBA and MSc hopefuls are set on those program types—those who consider FT, 1-year MBA or EMBA programs often consider other program types as well.
  • School quality and reputation rank highest—prospective students ranked that aspect above career aspects, financial aspects, program specifics, curriculum aspects, and student class profile.
